Another first edition print from our stock. First Printing Nobody's in Town by Edna Ferber, 1938.  This copy is stamped by the Toronto Public Library, Yorkville and is also embossed by the library.

Two novellas by Edna Ferber, one "Nobody's in Town," looks at who actually lives in New York over the summer when all the rich folks go out to Long Island or Cape Cod. The sense of the heat and also the small pleasures of a summer evening are wonderfully described.

The second, "Trees Die at the Top," is about the death of a crotchety old pioneer and the thoughts of his family as his dying is drawn out. The present is intercut with the dying man's remembrances of crossing the prairie. Not as successful or interesting.
